Rainy season is approaching in the Bay and my car just got broken into… the only thing they took were my two raincoats. That means I get to go raincoat shopping! What are your favorite raincoats that are fun and functional?November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10818
I have a [Seafolly Jacket](https://www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/waterproof-jackets-raincoats/all-rain/seafolly-long-length-lightweight-traditional-raincoat_mustard.htm) which is my only proper raincoat currently. I like the cheery yellow colour and the way it hits just below the hips is flattering. I tend to prefer umbrellas over raincoats for English weather though, so I only use this when I have to have my hands free.November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10819
Target hands down. I have a Merona (rip) one that’s lasted me four years and still going strong. I’ve been hearing great things about the raincoats in their new line too!November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10820
Would check out J. Crew (they also carry some options from RAINS) and Patagonia!November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10821
Seasalt Cornwall and Joules
The Brits know how to handle rain an their coats are top notch.November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10822
[This one](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women-blocktech-coat-404199.html?dwvar_404199_color=COL09&cgid=women-outerwear-and-blazers#start=5&cgid=women-outerwear-and-blazers) from uniqlo has been great to me!November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10823
I have [this one.](https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/barbour-trevose-anorak?ID=1231214) It’s expensive but gets a lot of use. Some reasons I like it:
* Light and compact
* A lot of the rain will just glance off
* Dries quickly
* Can fold it into my carry-on and it won’t look wrinkled after
* Doesn’t feel plasticky or restrict movement
* Has vents in the arm pit area
* Deep pockets and big (detachable) hood
* Cinch at the waist is very flattering, duck tail cinch at the bottom is annoying when you sit on it though
* Perfect shade of yellow
* Two-way zipper and sturdy buttons
* Con: you will feel hot/sweaty in it if it’s humidNovember 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10824
I accidentally left my raincoat in a hotel several months back, and haven’t purchased a new one yet. I’ve been using my umbrella and that seems to work well enough. I would love to get a fun raincoat but I’ve never seen one that I just had to have.
It also matters that it hardly rains/rains a lot where I live. Eddie Bauer looks like they have a good selection so I would most likely buy from there! Have you bought from there?November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10825
I just recently bought this [this raincoat](https://m.shop.nordstrom.com/s/joules-right-as-rain-packable-print-hooded-raincoat/4564303?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FClothing%2FCoats%2C%20Jackets%20%26%20Blazers%2FRaincoats&color=dogs%20in%20leaves) in the yellow print and I love it. It’s more breathable than my Patagonia and I get tons of compliments on it. All the other prints are super adorable too.
I’ve worn it in a torrential rainstorm and it kept me completely dry.November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10826
Rains! It’s a Danish brand that makes very stylish and simple raincoats in all kinds of colours. They’re great quality, a bit on the pricey end of things, but worth a splurge! Ooh and they also make v cute great waterproof backpacksNovember 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10827
My ex’s mom just gave me a North Face raincoat and it’s amazing. I have no idea of the model since it’s second hand but it’s light gray with a storable hood and a hot pink mesh lining. It has élasticités cuffs too which is AMAZINGNovember 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10828

If you can find one in gore tex, get it. I have one that I’ve been wearing for four years with a lot of hard use, and it still works great. I’ve even washed it!November 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10830
Marmot precip is perfect for PNW-type rainNovember 3, 2018 at 12:47 pm #10831
I bought [this Royal Robbins raincoat](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1ONVOO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_blSUBbX32JV3N) last fall and it quickly became my favorite outerwear. It’s light yet warm and completely waterproof. It’s a little bit of an investment but well worth it. Chic, flattering, durable – everything you could want.
