    Hey guys,

I’m trying to put together some outfits for some parties in the future. I’d like to go for the 80s club look, but I want to be more dressed up. Slick blazers, nice slacks etc, but I’d like a distinctly 80s look to the outfit.

What would be the best way to find some inspiration to obtain this look? I was thinking of finding backissues of GQ magazine from the 80s, but I don’t even know where to find those. I’m actually at a complete loss. Maybe you guys can recommend some movies for me to watch? Or maybe recommend some elements of a quintessential slick 80s club look?

    Thanks for your help!!

Lol white blazer with sleeves rolled up, bright colored shirt, either matching white pants or brightly colored shorts with neon socks and some chucks. Also EL sunglasses, fingerless gloves and a headband.

The 80s were about extremes. Overstatement. Loud choices intended to scream look at me.

Miami Vice is obvious. A little too obvious, actually. But other than that, think rich colors and materials, giant shoulder pads and exaggerated proportions, synthetics like nylon that were used in parachute pants, JAMS used wildly neon colored patterns, Jordan’s had just been introduced…

It was not about practicality, it was about expression.

And androgyny was becoming a thing.

The hair will also help with the look. A flock of seagulls for instance.

It all depends on the look you want to go for. There are so many possibilities.

Oh, and you asked about movies to watch? The club scene from Earth Girls are Easy (not a porno, I promise) will be very helpful for you.

I think these are two separate looks. When I hear “80s club” I think Boy George, Robert Smith or Adam Ant.

But the wardrobe you seem to be talking about is more American Psycho/Alex P Keaton style.

Not really 80’s club but Call Me By Your Name would probably be some good inspiration, if you haven’t seen it already.

Seriously, watch Friends / look at Pinterest friends outfits. Dad jeans, rolled up and baggy tees with drop shoulders. Try these ([]( Also, try Stranger Things, a modern twist but the 80s outfits of Stevie are pretty hard (Nike Cortez).
