After reading the comments on yesterday’s thread regarding brands you’ve stopped buying from I am curious – what are your favorite brands? What brands do you continue going back to because their style, quality, mission, and/or price point?
Additionally, if you have any favorite pieces from them I’d love if you could specify and provide links.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7771
Disclaimer: I buy all of these from Ebay. I cannot afford anything branded otherwise haha.
Doma leather jackets. I can’t stop buying from them. I do not work for Doma lol.
Theory and Cole Haan wool coats.
Elie Tahari suits. Cheap-ish but good cuts. Also Tahari coats are pretty stylish and not as expensive as Theory.
Levi’s for denim. The only brand that fits.
H&M for work basics. Their button-downs and suit blazers work great on me and I stock up on their plain cotton tees.
TJMaxx/Marshalls, Ross, and Target are where I pick up random stuff for whatever else.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7772
I love [Universal Standard](https://www.universalstandard.com) even though the price point is a bit higher than I like to spend usually. They have a [Fit Liberty](https://www.universalstandard.com/collections/fit-liberty) program where with certain pieces you have a year to exchange them if you lose or gain weight and need a new size, and those returned items are donated to shelters.
I don’t love everything in their collection but they have a basic, minimalist aesthetic I like. I live in the [Misa dress](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/misa-dress-camo)—it’s so versatile and flattering. One of my favorite pieces is the [Danube skirt](https://www.universalstandard.com/products/danube-heavyweight-jersey-skirt-black) in the heavyweight jersey for workwear.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7773
My current favorite brands are:
**Doen** – My most worn pieces would be the [Tansy Dress](https://shopdoen.com/products/tansy-dress-golden-hour?variant=205400571920) and cotton [Cardiff Sweater](https://shopdoen.com/collections/knitwear/products/cardiff-cardigan-sweater-sepia?variant=549800083472).
**Only Child** – [Dune](https://www.onlychildclothing.com/collections/pants-jumpsuits/products/dune-pants-in-cotton) and [Solana](https://www.onlychildclothing.com/collections/pants-jumpsuits/products/solana-pants-in-cotton) pants (linen fabrics aren’t currently available, but love them maybe even more than the cotton ones, which are also awesome). The [rust Dune pants](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/29/31/32/2931327e4dee6395213bfa9f8271ce10.jpg) in linen are my very fav of her pieces.
**Aquatalia** – comfortable, weatherproof, and cute boots like [these](https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/aquatalia-carie-weatherproof-bootie-women/4905289?origin=coordinating-4905289-0-1-PDP_1-recbot-frequently_viewed_snowplow_v1&recs_placement=PDP_1&recs_strategy=frequently_viewed_snowplow_v1&recs_source=recbot&recs_page_type=product), [these](https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/aquatalia-urope-weatherproof-boot-women/3729059), and [these](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/1b/ca/52/1bca52111d9b77facb9af98d45518cd5.jpg) that I can wear for hours.
**Yves** **Saint Laurent** – this [schoolgirl dress](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/e4/f7/81/e4f7815a575eec831bae25a8a79233a2.jpg) is one of my all-time favorites that I always receive compliments on whenever I wear, as well as this newer [skirt](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/79/c3/d1/79c3d130753f3561e74256b3190fcc6a.jpg) or [jeans](https://item3.tradesy.com/images/saint-laurent-black-high-rise-skinny-jeans-size-24-0-xs-23329092-0-0.jpg?width=400&height=650). I also love my vintage jackets like [this](https://www.shrimptoncouture.com/products/1970s-yves-saint-laurent-deep-blue-velvet-fitted-jacket) and [this](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/e3/56/7e/e3567effb46ac0afd367d519b1d3e88e.jpg).
**AG** – these are my most [worn pair of jeans](https://n.nordstrommedia.com/id/f5ea27ec-1365-4dd3-827b-87043792bd55.jpeg?crop=pad&pad_color=FFF&format=jpeg&w=780&h=1196&dpr=3&quality=50). I wear them with my favorite [tee](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/10/1a/f6/101af62e072fa1fb5c8bf3cee056b4f1.jpg) or my [white silk blouse.](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/f5/c6/75/f5c675961a4bb720fd504aea24792c8e.jpg)
**Valentino** – yes, expensive even on sale, but I’m obsessed with their dresses, which are often my “big buys,” as well as their pants, which fit me like a dream. My current favorite pieces are these [pants](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/6a/22/e7/6a22e7d5a836b39cfedd4dd61843a610.jpg), this [dress](https://www.farfetch.com/au/shopping/women/valentino-silk-lipstick-print-keyhole-dress-item-12485630.aspx), this [dress](https://www.farfetch.com/au/shopping/women/valentino-lipstick-print-mini-dress-item-12598786.aspx), this [dress](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/ab/fa/5d/abfa5db1ca750e09905e853c92ef2766.jpg), and this [dress](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/42/e3/82/42e3828186d213b7295a0430fca27a67.jpg).
**Morph Knitwear** – the [Saoirse dress](https://www.morphknitwear.com/garments/saoirse-silk-dress) is another heavy compliment piece.
**Eileen Fisher** – literally on the list for the cotton and espeically their comfy, machine washable [silk tees](https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/eileen-fisher-silk-tee-regular-petite/2909797?origin=category&BaseUrl=Women) that last for years. I just wish they had more slim-cut options.
**Vintage generally** – because I can end up with pieces like [this](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/de/a9/25/dea925fda2f893270e12e4cbd1189e2d.jpg), this [dress](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/73/2a/3b/732a3b1da007b9852b39d86f975e405e.jpg) with a [matching jacket](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/2d/5a/38/2d5a38d7a7b1586fcb7f1877d6a91a55.jpg) that I actually wear with jeans moreso than with the dress, and [this](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/fc/c4/ca/fcc4cab84f741ead2656845f218d75d6.jpg).

My describe my style as classic minimalist so I really love Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren and Calvin KleinOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7775
I get most of my jeans from Loft because I buy petite pants. They have the best selection of petites that fit me. So I go there for things like ankle pants or shorter skirts where being the right length is important. I buy sweaters and coats when they’re on clearance.
Lauren Conrad’s line at Kohl’s for pretty blouses and tops.
The brands Umgee, Kori, and Entro for dresses and tunics. I buy them on eBay but you can find them in a lot of local boutiques.
Banana Republic Factory for skirts and some tops and sweaters. I feel like it isn’t as formal as regular Banana Republic, less business attire.
J.Crew for basics and blazers and coats although I buy them off eBay.
Nine West shoes, they always have my size.
Target when I want a “fun” outfit.
Underwear and bras almost exclusively TJ Maxx at this point.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7776
“Splurge” dresses , work pants, and shirts-White House Black Market
More moderately priced dresses, tops, and work pants- New York and Company and Banana Republic Factory
Underclothes, t-shirts, and leggings- AerieOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7777
**Uniqlo -** Great for basics! Super affordable and of good quality. 🙂 Their [Heattech collection](https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/women/heattech-collection#heattech) is amazing! I always use their thermal leggings in the winter because it’s FREEZING where I live, even now!!
**Zara -** My go-to fast fashion brand, lol. I love their overall style! It’s so classy and they have such a wide variety. [This skirt](https://www.zara.com/us/en/pleated-plaid-skirt-p04886251.html?v1=6867690&v2=1074557) is one of my favorites atm! Super flattering and I love the shape.
**Gucci** – I just love how distinct Gucci looks. I may not love all of their designs, but the ones that I do love are ones that I’ll be wearing for a long time. Including [this](https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/womens-ready-to-wear/womens-sweaters-cardigans/blind-for-love-jacquard-wool-coat-p-505476X9M991778) loud but cozy cardigan, haha. Their bags are super cute, too! [Small but functional](https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/gucci-gg-marmont-2-0-matelasse-leather-shoulder-bag/4643151?country=US¤cy=USD&utm_content=41796137017_7bdb6a43-3b6a-4740-ae29-4546f1acae3c&utm_term=aud-303139461280:pla-327077899399&utm_channel=shopping_ret_p&sp_source=google&sp_campaign=662927182&gclid=Cj0KCQjwr4beBRDNARIsAGZaZ5feKCyyPSRcncZBwIJ_G_niN7o9YX-7vI1vBJ1_bhEFMbAoSaX99IwaAum5EALw_wcB).
**Reformation** – Impeccable designs and sustainable fashion ftw!!
**Everlane** – another awesome sustainable fashion company! They have some amazing basics, including comfortable [denim](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-auth-strch-hr-slm-strt-short-midblue?collection=womens-stretch-jeans) and [quality shoes](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-day-heel-pecan?collection=womens-bestsellersv2).
**Yesstyle -** Affordable and cute Asian fashion!! Has a lot of different brands so I always read reviews (if there are any) before I buy to discern the quality. [This](https://www.yesstyle.com/en/lady-jean-fleece-lined-corduroy-jacket/info.html/pid.1063660842) is one of my current favorite jackets! Just got it in recently. It’s so warm and perfect for fall/winter weather.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7778
My style is pretty clean minimal, and most of my wardrobe comes from either Uniqlo (I live in their ezy pants) or Gap. Gap’s quality isn’t super great but they’re always having good sales. I also have a couple sweaters from H&M, which I got in the men’s section! I’ve found that the men’s clothes are higher quality and more often natural fibers. Don’t even get me started on how much that annoys me.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7779
So I’m going to keep mine short and sweet high waisted clothes are by far my favorite pieces, and the Pink line I love from VS despite not finding many that fit me, and this is going to be really basic but I plain love VS and AerieOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7780
I tend to shop pretty widely, but here are my current faves –
I just got this Chinti and Parker [sweater](https://m.shopbop.com/aran-sweater-chinti-parker/vp/v=1/845524441949732.htm) off ebay and I love it. Soft, but stuctured, great silhouette.
I also like Uniqlo merino and cashmere sweaters – plain colours, lots of colour and style options, cheap.
Equipment for silk and cotton button downs, though I mostly buy them off the outnet.
J Crew is hit or miss, but I am wearing my [Daphne](https://goo.gl/images/Yq17Uf) tweed coat all the time, I like the tippi sweaters, and the ponte resume dress is great.
Sam Edelman shoes – some are really not me, but I have and love these weird [mules](https://goo.gl/images/qaZFi5) and i just got [these mules](https://goo.gl/images/d9EUpM) and they are both super comfy too.
I like Whistles for coats and I have some nice knitted skirts from there, but its leaning a bit more minimal/edgy for my tastes.
Love sezane for shoes, unfortunately am a little big for the clothes at the moment.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7781
the majority of my wardrobe is madewell from when i worked there for a couple of years in undergrad (and tbh i still shop there a lot because i know the brand really well and can usually predict fit/quality pretty well from their online shop). i do think that their quality has declined from previous years but you can still find some nice stuff if you know what you’re looking for. my favorite pieces from their current offerings are the [cashmere sweatshirt](https://www.madewell.com/cashmere-sweatshirt-99105209540.html?srcCode=MWGGBS00002_99105209540_328186727_21592217567_293946777986_m_pla_online__aud-346194908563:pla-293946777986_9009741&sisearchengine=197&siproduct=H1146&noPopUp=true&lsft=srcCode:Paid_Search%7CShopping%7CGoogle%7CMWGGBS00002_99105209540_328186727_21592217567_293946777986_m_pla_online__9009741&gclid=CjwKCAjw0oveBRAmEiwAzf6_rF4xMh3buhbWxB2252eQkmXSfSqK0nOKMCwDNR7lhvvQQrOiT7orPxoC_wMQAvD_BwE) (i live in these – i have 3 and i’m still considering more, they’re so comfy and layerable), [oversized denim jacket](https://www.madewell.com/the-oversized-jean-jacket-in-lunar-wash-G7501.html), and the [medium transport tote](https://www.madewell.com/the-medium-transport-tote-F5788.html). i also looooved their cruiser straight cut in denim but i don’t think they’re making them anymore 🙁
i also wear sezane, doen, some basics from j.crew, and some theory and rag & bone found at TJ maxx. i live in the south so coats aren’t a big issue here – i have a couple of penfield parkas and a madewell plaid cocoon coat that work well for me. i always feel like my shoes are very uncomfortable so i haven’t figured that out yet – i have too many pairs but i basically live in birkenstocks and doc martens mary janes regardless. i’m a graduate student so i dress pretty casually most of the time, but i need to start transitioning my wardrobe to be more professional for sure.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7782
I’m an early 20s office worker so, naturally, I dress almost exclusively in Banana Republic, Loft, and Ann Taylor. I usually buy from outlets because I find a lot of their prices at normal stores too high for my liking, although I did recently get a whole bunch of stuff on sale from Loft. I do have some J Crew stuff but not as much as BR and Loft.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7783
Zara – Really good both classic and trendy blouses, shirts and blazers.Topshop – Quirkier taste, but has great dresses and some really cool leather shoes at times.Urban Outfitters – I love some their sweaters and dresses, comfy and can be styled business casual.Pull&Bear – For the occasional big sweater or fun tshirt.
Edit: Totally forgot Banana Republic. I love everything in there for the professional look. Also Uniqlo for basics, like legging pants and socks and simple tees.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7784
Denim: AG, Citizens of Humanity, Madewell (quality is fantastic, though the price point is high)
Activewear: Girlfriend Collective, Lululemon, Shock Absorber
Tees: Amour Vert and Uniqlo (Amour Vert is expensive but the quality is amazing, Uniqlo has solid quality basics at very low prices)
Hoodies: American Giant (designed with the aim of being BIFL…not sure they quite achieved that, but still very high quality)
Cashmere: Charter Club (not the absolute best cashmere out there, but great for the price)October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7785
Free People, Macy’s Style & Co. has these dresses that come a little above the knee with short sleeve and 3 quarter. Excellent for a quick outfit in the morning, if your planned outfit doesn’t work out and it you add a sweater or jacket for a fall look. Washes very well and air dryOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7786
I shop around at different stores. For leggings/ undergarments and hoodies – aerie
For sweaters, dressier leggings and blouses, francescas / nordstrom / buckle
For jeans – 7 for all mankind / levis
Shoes – clarks / vansOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7787
I’m short, skinny, and flat chested. My butt is flat as well. Since it’s difficult for me to find pants/jeans that fit me, I often order from ASOS. Their petite selection is great.
My favourite brand is probably Sezane. I like Reformation as well, but some of their dresses are too revealing for my taste. I try to buy vintage most of the time.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7788
Uniqlo and Banana Republic 🙂 Uniqlo’s jeggings are the best I have ever found and BR’s lightweight wool is to die for.
I love White House Black Market for the “curvy slim ankle pants” – best work pants ever
I also love Zara but sometimes their quality is lackingOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7789
For blouses (work related and non work related), Vince, Joie, Brooks Brothers, J.Crew
Jeans: levis and AG.
Shoes: Converse, Jimmy Choo
Handbags: Chanel and LV. I’m thinking of buying a vintage Chanel flap bag but haven’t pulled the trigger. I only have newer Chanel and I’ve heard the quality isn’t as good as before.
Accessories: Chanel or miu miuOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7790
Disclaimer: This list is based exclusively on what stores are physically available in my country and at roughly my budget.
* Massimo Dutti — the “better quality classic pieces” brand of Inditex, it has good basics with a touch of fad pieces every now and then. Basically all of my current wardrobe is from here. They have a refreshingly nice collection this A/W, after a few seasons that were a bit disappointing to me personally. In particular I wear the hell out of [these pants](https://www.massimodutti.com/ro/en/women/collection/trousers/casual-trousers/skinny-fit-high-rise-satin-trousers-c1718609p8246566.html?colorId=800&categoryId=1718609). But really, just all of it.
* [Stefanel](https://www.stefanel.com/en_us/) — an Italian brand mostly focusing on loose knits. I used to know it as the “beige loose knits” brand (they do have other colours though). A bit pricey for me, but whatever I’ve bought from them has been 100% lovely.
* [Musette](https://musette.ro/) — A Romanian shoe, bag, and leather accessories brand (I think they used to partner with an Israeli company back in the day but I’m not really sure). My main local pick. Cool designs, decent quality, quite affordable.
If I were swimming in $$$, I’d buy heavily from Max Mara, Saint Laurent, The Row (I think?) aaanndddd… I don’t know what else. -_- With an average monthly wage of less than €600, obviously luxury brands aren’t very well-represented in Romania. Plebs like me feel embarrassed just to enter their shops, lolOctober 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7791
I like Pendelton, [Eileen Fisher](https://www.pinterest.com/naokel79/eileen-fisher-wardrobe/) (but note: I work there and I get a generous discount–that link is to my board of my current EF work wardrobe), Free People although I’m getting really picky about my pieces from them and it’s more and more “special occasion only” these days), Gap for their [signature skinny ankle](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395964992234969664/) especially in prints, and I’m a recent [H&M convert](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395964992235504226/) with that amazing sweater, plus a [couple](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395964992235145229/) of [other](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395964992234969921/)
[finds](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395964992235397324/). (That striped blouse has embroidery on the cuff that says ‘girls bite back’!!!) For H&M I realize quality and sizing are haphazard at best. However, I was able to walk into the store and pull a sweater off the shelf and wear it right away in my “normal” size and it was very serviceable! I feel like for trendy or statement pieces that you’re not going to wear the heck out of, H&M can be a decent destination. For classic, timeless basics? No.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7792
Valentino is absolutely the best. But incredibly expensive so I can’t always afford it. I love their shoes and dresses though.
Yves Saint Laurent for jackets and their sneakers
Paige and Levis for good balance of affordable and quality denim.
Topshop and Banana Republic for generally good stuff
Reformation and Stella Mccartney are great too, and you’d be supporting ecofriendly brands.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7793
Price point + style + their clothes somehow always seem to fit me: ZARA, Mango and Lola Liza.October 29, 2018 at 8:17 am #7794
I love European fashion and try to look for long lasting quality pieces. I love Sandro and have some of their stuff but I stick to Mango, Pimkie and H&M to source more budget friendly pieces.
